THE AFRICA PROSPERITY NETWORK

The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) secretariat is based in Accra, Ghana, and registered as a company limited by guarantee under the country's Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992). The purpose of the Africa Prosperity Network is to create a vibrant network of businesses operating in Africa, and Pan-African thought leaders. Our purpose is to deepen trade and investments across Africa, in line with the African Union’s agenda to build the world's largest single market in Africa. We will provide a common platform where the concerns, challenges, ideas, and opportunities of Africa's private sector can be discussed and organised for action.

We offer a platform where leaders in business, politics, etc., can think, plan and work together to champion the “Africa Agenda for Action” – which is creating sustainable prosperity for all Africans by Africans, both at home and abroad. The secretariat will foster partnerships with credible institutions and governments to convene political, business and social sector leaders including associations each year to lead a continental action for prosperity through dialogues.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues, APN’s flagship event, will be an annual platform for this network of political, business and social sector leaders to deliberate on a sustainable way to implement the AU's Agenda 2063 for building the Africa we want, in a way that provides for quick wins for the people of Africa.

BACKGROUND TO DIALOGUES

THE AFRICA PROSPERITY DIALOGUES

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues is a strategic platform where the movers and shakers of Africa’s economy will gather for the purpose of building the world’s largest single market of 1.4 billion people. The objective is to elevate, with greater urgency, the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) objectives from ambition to action. The dialogues are unique for two reasons: it is focused on intra-Africa trade, and it brings together Africa’s political, business, and social sector leaders to think together, plan together and work together to build the “Africa We Want” for all Africans.

The broad agenda for the annual conference is to commit Africa’s leaders to a shared ambition of creating sustainable prosperity for all Africans through enhanced continental trade. It will bring into practical focus the continent’s critical challenges and industrialisation priorities and advance aggressively the commercial and infrastructural interventions needed to achieve the vision of a prosperous, integrated Africa Beyond Aid.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues is a concept developed by the Africa Prosperity Network to promote with greater urgency the economic integration of Africa's 1.4 billion people. And to do so by giving the voices of business, women and young people in Africa a greater say in the process of deepening intra-Africa trade. The concept was fully adopted by the main partners, namely the AfCFTA Secretariat and the Office of President of the Republic of Ghana, AfCFTA's host nation, after a thorough concept presentation and brainstorming session. This took place at a two-day working retreat from the 7th to 9th April 2022, organised by the Africa Prosperity network, at the Rock City Hotel, on the Kwahu Mountains in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Being the birthplace of the concept, it was agreed that the annual Africa Prosperity Dialogues be dubbed “Kwahu Summit” as reference to its origin.
